Updates: Instagram Expands ‘Guides’ Content To All Users
Earlier in the year Instagram launched a new feature called “Guides” which allowed creators to share tips, resources and longer form content in a tab on their user profile. These features were originally limited to a selection group of Instagram content creators in the health and wellbeing sector.
Last week Instagram made two announcements, the first being that Guides is now rolled out to all users and allows people to create new forms of content around – Products, Places and Posts. The second announcement was an update to its Search functionality that will help users easily discover even more of the content they are interested in. Instagram Guides
Guides are a new content format on Instagram that allows users to curate ‘flows’ of posts categorised by:
- Places – Recommended places in your city and other locations
- Products – Recommend your favourite products
- Posts – Recommend posts that you created or saved
You can access guides via the icon which looks like a small book located at the top of a user profile.
Guides By Type
Post Guides – these allow users to curate a thread of Instagram posts that have been saved and add new with custom headlines and commentary.
Product Guides – can be used to curate products which are available in an instagram shop, which is great for businesses if they are looking to add extra info or stories about their shoppable products on Instagram.
Places Guides – is perfect for sharing location based recommendations from city guides to restaurants, bars and anything else you can think of!
A guide can be published via the ‘create post’ section on the Instagram app.
These guides will offer users a sleek and organised way in which to categorise information and add even greater value to the content they produce.
