Update: Facebook Tests Email Marketing Tools for Business Pages
Facebook has confirmed that it is testing new email marketing tools for pages, with a selection of small and medium sized businesses.
On the 1st of June Coffey & Tea managing director Meg Coffey tweeted screenshots revealing a new tab for “Marketing Email” in her Facebook Business Page Manager sidebar.
Send marketing emails from your page? What new sorcery is this Facebook?!
Have you seen this new feature where we can now send emails directly from Facebook? This is definitely new to me and only available on one account so far. pic.twitter.com/aSIkSx1uDo

The screen-shot shows users will be able to confirm their email address before uploading subscribers to the system. From there users can compose their message, customise their subject line, headers and body copy.
On the 3rd of June facebook confirmed this with the following comments:
“We’re testing new email marketing tools with a small number of businesses to help them more efficiently notify their customers of changes to their services and operations. We’re evaluating whether these tools are beneficial for people and businesses before deciding whether to expand it further.”
What does this mean for businesses and marketeers?
If this functionality is rolled out, it could make email marketing accessible to even more businesses and would take Facebook a step closer to being an even more all inclusive marketing platform.
