Updates – Google’s Page Experience Ranking Signal

Earlier this week Google announced that it plans to include a ranking factor linked to the overall quality of the user’s experience when on a webpage.

We know that other experience related factors such as page load time, interactivity, mobile friendliness and HTTPS security are already considered in the ranking factors so the introduction of this additional factor is a logical next step and will be rolled out on Google Search and Top Stories feature.

A website will still need to present accurate and engaging content, and of course content will still be the dominant ranking factor, however in cases where multiple websites stand evenly on this factor the Page Experience will help decide who ranks higher.

Although this new ranking signal is unlikely to be rolled out until 2021 we highly recommend that this should be on your agenda – prepare now and reap the rewards later.
